Twelve Trees of Christmas

This community that conveniently has no name is centred around the local public library, which is housed in a private building leased to the library by the area’s founding family. The original lease lasted fifty years and is up at Christmas. This presents a problem for the library, as the family who owns the building has decided not to renew the lease and sell it to developers instead, who will raze the building and build condos in its place. This seems like a sensible plan, as living space is at a premium in Manhattan, until the children’s librarian Cherie, played by Lindy Booth, gets it into her head that the community needs the library and she’s going to single-handed attempt to convince the founding family to renew the lease. Cherie is just full of holiday spirit and bouncy enthusiasm, so when she ‘bumps into’ the family’s male heir Tony Shaughnessy, played by Robin Dunne, you think it’d be inevitable that he go ahead and do what she asked in the name of community and Christmas. End of movie. But no! He’s a jerk, albeit a cute jerk, and he refuses to budge on the condo plans. Tragedy.
